The Koçpınar Geothermal Exploration Drilling Project is planned by Koçpınar Geothermal Energy Inc. within the boundaries of the Central District of Aksaray Province, in the licensed area numbered 2023/17. As part of the project, Koçpınar Geothermal Energy Inc. plans to drill 3 geothermal exploration wells. This project has been prepared within the scope of the second round of the Risk Sharing Mechanism Program for the drilling of 3 wells (Elmacık-1 Well, GMK-3 Well, and GMK-7 Well) intended for geothermal exploration. The Risk Sharing Mechanism Program is one of the components of the Turkey Geothermal Development Project, which is financed by the World Bank. The implementing institution is a special unit under the Development and Investment Bank of Turkey. The Environmental and Social Management Plan and the Stakeholder Engagement Plan prepared for the project are shared in the links below for the purpose of informing stakeholders and encouraging participation, and are available for review at local administrative offices. The project areas are as follows: Aksaray Province, Central District, Elmacık Village — Parcel 276 of Block 179 (Elmacık-1), Parcel 221 of Block 114 (GMK-3), and Helvadere (Aydınlar) Town — Parcel 191 of Block 625 (GMK-7).

Koçpınar Geothermal Exploration Drilling Project is Starting!

Our Aksaray-Koçpınar license area is located in the Cappadocia region, which is highly significant for tourism in our country, around the Hasan Mountain area. Currently, there is no geothermal power plant established in the region. We aim to be the first to generate electricity in this area. Our project benefits from the Geothermal Risk Sharing Mechanism, supported by the World Bank and coordinated by the Development Bank of Turkey. With this support, agreements have been made for 3 separate wells within our Aksaray-Koçpınar license area numbered 2023/17. The first drilling is targeted to begin in 2024.

Koçpınar Geothermal Energy Inc. was established!

Our company was established to explore geothermal resources in the Aksaray region and to utilize these resources efficiently. We aim to contribute to the development of Aksaray and to reducing Turkey’s dependence on foreign energy sources by promoting the use of renewable energy. We plan to commence geothermal resource exploration activities as soon as possible. Our goal is to use the discovered geothermal resources in various fields such as power plants, greenhouse heating, and district heating systems.
